Category analyst, 25-year-old, Meka Jones is all set to meet and marry her husband at the altar on Season 10 of Lifetime’s Married at First Sight. The experts think 31-year old, education director, Michael Watson, is the perfect match for her.
Meka said she wants a tall, bearded man that is romantic, funny, driven and family-oriented. Michael seems to have all of those qualities. While perfect on paper, the one thing the experts can’t predict is physical chemistry.
Last night’s episode left us with a cliff-hanger on whether she will push her fears aside and take the ultimate leap of faith for love. We’ll have to wait one more week to see if they indeed have that instant spark.
I predict they will!
Meka may be young in age, but she had to grow up fast. As the oldest child, she took care of her three younger siblings from the age of 10. While it seemed overwhelming at the time, she now admits it prepared her for life. Perhaps it even prepared her for marrying a stranger.
Meka’s show title is, “Miss Ambitious”. She works hard to excel at her job and in life. However, she also enjoys time connecting with family and friends. I got the chance to ask her five questions.
Let’s take a closer look at one of this season’s stars.
When asked the one thing she couldn’t live a day without, Meka shares, “it’s human interaction. I am such a social butterfly and I love talking. I’ve always been super talkative for as long as I can remember and I can’t imagine not being able to communicate with anybody for a day.”
Can I just say that she’s my kinda girl?!?
It’s clear that Meka values quality time as she gives us a glimpse of what her perfect day would look like. She explains, “It would be waking up in the Maldives in a beach villa with my man. We’d hang out on the beach and then do an excursion there.” She articulates that it’s something she’s never done before, specific to the Maldives.
Meka goes on to share the ending of her perfect day. “We’d have drinks with a nice dinner and watch the sunset.”
Anyone else feeling the urgency to book a trip about now?!?
Something that makes the Maldives even more attractive to her is the 20 different species of what she considers her spirit animal…the dolphin. “I love dolphins. They’re super smart and so sweet. They’re so cute and kind-hearted,” she adds.
Meka is an upbeat person, so it isn’t surprising when she reveals, “Rise Up” by Andra Day, is the song she loves to sing at the top of her lungs. “It gives me all of the good feels,” she shares.
Here is the official video. I’m pretty sure you’ll want to grab a box of kleenex.
On the show, Meka admits to being a perfectionist. But we know in relationships there has to be a give and take. She enlightens us with one compromise she’s made since she married Michael. “I’m very much a planner. Not being able to plan is usually very hard for me. But ever since I married a stranger, I have been much more ‘go with the flow.’ I think there has to be a balance. It’s nice to plan but it’s also good to be spontaneous sometimes!” she exclaims.
I can relate to perfectionism. You seriously wouldn’t believe how long it takes me to write a blog post.
Spontaneity is definitely a quality needed to marry a stranger in a two-week timeframe. She reveals on the show, “In general, if you’re going to be married at first sight, you need to remain open about everything.”
If Michael shares that sentiment with her, they have a good chance of making it beyond the eight-week experiment. Do you agree?
